Phenomena
Featured as Audio Expert
The film
I feature in Phenomena as the Audio Expert — an award-winning art and science documentary directed by Josef Gatti, screening at film festivals around the world.
I worked with Josef on this for eight years before it was released, from the earliest iterations. I started as composer on the pilot of the web series it grew out of, and we kept working together on various projects from there.
For the film I was brought in to build the waves experiment — a practical demonstration of how sound frequencies can be made visible, and the patterns they form. Every image in Phenomena was captured in camera, with no visual effects. So the music and sound I produced for that sequence weren’t scoring the visuals. They were generating them.
